Legal basis
Promoting the equal treatment of men and women and eliminating any existing disadvantages is set out in Article 3 Paragraph 2 of the Basic Law and is formalised in Section 1 Book II of the Social Code as a universal principle regarding basic support for employment seekers.
The different life situations of men and women must be taken into consideration when providing employment services.
To facilitate this task, the law resolved to appoint Officers for Equal Opportunities on the employment market and this is set out for job centres in Section 18e of Book II of the Social Code.
Tasks
The Officer for Equal Opportunities advises and supports you on matters regarding the promotion of women, equal treatment of men and women in terms of basic income support and reconciliation between family and work for both genders.
They assist with gender and family-related professional tasks, particularly by assisting with matters regarding advice, workplace integration and education as well as the return of men and women to work after raising a family.
The Officer for Equal Opportunities supports and advises you and any relatives, employers and employee or employer organisations within the community on matters such as gender-specific equality, promotion of women and managing family and professional life.
They work with communal bodies, organisations, chambers, associations and companies and are active in various networks.
Services
Group events and individual consultations to break down gender-specific barriers and take family-specific living situations into account, particularly those raising children or with relatives that require care.
They can also inform you on your options for returning to work after raising a family.
Support opportunities for (single) parents and older employees.
